U.S Scraps Missile Defense Shield

The Obama administration is scrapping the proposed missile defense shield in Eastern Europe. A senior administration official made the statement today to CNN.
The missile defense shield was long thought by prior administrations as necessary in case of an attack by Iran or North Korea. However, as Joe Biden has commented recently, “we believe we are fully capable of dealing with any threat from Iran”, the administration has shown they willing to weigh all options before enacting such programs.
The missile defense shield has been vehemently opposed by Russia who believes it would take away from it’s own strategic ability.
The move may be seen by Russia as a political win since they have complained about it from it’s initial proposal.
